Five events this week: Let’s honor Oliver X

We are saddened to hear about the untimely passing of Reno art and community champion Oliver X. At this time of publication, the XFest is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. in City Plaza. The flier with details is below. If there is one event to choose from this week, we hope to see you downtown Sunday to honor a longtime community leader to passed away too early.

  1. Join Holland Project & KWNK Community Radio for their summer 2023 Block Party. An annual event, the party will include an outdoor stage and live music, food trucks, community org and artist pop-ups, and some special programming brought to you by HP Galleries.
  2. FEAR is back in Reno for one night at Virginia Street Brewhouse. The longstanding LA-based punk band formed in the late-’70s.
  3. Dog Days of Summer Dance Festival returns to the Pioneer Center August 18-20, 2023. This outdoor performance event features a different mixed-genre program each night and stars a wide range of northern Nevada-based dance companies. 
  4. Learn about horticulture. The Home Horticulture Certificate Program was developed by the University of Nevada, Reno Extension Horticulture team from around the state to provide basic horticulture education. 
  5. Dress up ‘50s style and party. Join Haus Does Moore for our Sock Hop 50s Drag Brunch at Cafe Whitney.
