Northern Nevada’s pride festival drew thousands of participants today. Participants celebrated LTBTQ+ causes, with festivities held through 6 p.m. today at Wingfield Park.
A number of political candidate campaigns participated in the parade — which started downtown at the Reno Arch and then on to the park — particularly presidential hopefuls Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren.
Local elected officials were noted in attendance as well, from Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve and Councilmembers Jenny Brekhus and Devon Reese to Washoe Sheriff Darin Balaam and State Senator Ben Kieckhefer.
Though pride events are normally celebrated in June, Reno holds its parade and festival in July as part of Artown. The events are produced by and benefit Our Center.
