Greater Nevada Credit Union has once again opened up their scholarship program to its members and their families. More than 100 students applied for scholarships this past year, resulting in 20 lucky recipients, each receiving $2,000 to further their higher education.
“We understand how financial assistance can make a big difference in helping people continue their education,” said Greater Nevada President and CEO, Wally Murray. “This year we were able to provide more money to even more students, and there’s clearly a need as we also had a record number of applicants.” Nearly a quarter of a million dollars has been awarded since the program began 16 years ago.
There are a number of criteria looked at when considering who should receive scholarships: financial need, academic performance, career goals, and more. Scholarships aren’t limited to tuition only. Students can use the money toward books, course fees, room and board, books, or other financial needs attending school may incur.
