RTC continues to fast track Midtown construction

Date:

Continued business closures in Midtown have created another opportunity to accelerate construction in the area. The Regional Transportation Commission will close another section of Virginia Street to all traffic 24 hours a day, seven days a week from April 15 through April 30. The section previously closed will open for one-way traffic.

“The RTC and SNC (Sierra Nevada Construction) appreciate the support and cooperation from business owners, the City of Reno, and first responders to implement accelerated construction,” RTC said in a statement. “We encourage the community to support all businesses in Midtown during this accelerated construction period.”

The project team will work coordinate to ensure vendors can access businesses for deliveries, and side streets will be open so people can access essential businesses and pick up to-go food orders from Midtown restaurants.

Details

Closed starting April 15: Virginia Street from Center Street/Mary Street to St. Lawrence Avenue. Southbound Virginia Street through traffic will be detoured at Liberty, however vehicles accessing businesses up to St. Lawrence will be directed by flaggers.

Reopening April 15: Virginia Street from Mt. Rose Street/Holcomb Ave. to Mary Street/Center Street will reopen to one-way traffic. Two-way traffic will continue on Virginia Street south from Mt. Rose Street to Plumb Lane.

Transit Detour: RTC’s Route 1, RAPID Virginia Line, and UNR-Midtown Direct will detour northbound on Holcomb Avenue and Center Street, and southbound on Liberty Street to California Avenue to Forest Street to Mt. Rose Street. Check route and schedule information at rtcwashoe.com
