Reno Phil brings Beethoven’s works to life with a free family concert

Unveil the story behind the brilliant composer, Ludwig Van Beethoven, and young Christoph as the Reno Phil Orchestra conducted by Jane Brown performs “Classical Kids: Beethoven Lives Upstairs,” a FREE family concert on Saturday, September 28, from 12:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. 

“We love bringing families together with our performances each season,” said Tim Young, Reno Phil President & CEO. “The kids get really excited about seeing the music come to life!”

This story told through musical excerpts, reveals how a young boy, Christoph, learns to love classical music from his upstairs neighbor, Beethoven. Through a touching correspondence that is dramatically underscored with the composer’s most beautiful pieces, the young boy comes to understand the beauty of Beethoven’s music, the genius of the man, and the torment of his deafness.

“This concert brings history and brilliance to the stage as the works of one of the most famous composers come to life all over again!” said Young.

The Reno Phil Orchestra will perform this world-famous production, featuring live actors on stage, lively interactions, and an entertaining exchange of letters between young Christoph and his uncle that will be approachable for kids.
