Artown organizers revealed the performance lineup for the July 2018 event at a lively reception Tuesday inside Liberty Food & Wine Exchange in downtown Reno.

This year’s Artown festival kicks off June 30 and July 1 with a performance by aerial dance troupe Project Bandaloop at City Hall, a free concert by Los Lobos at Wingfield Park, and the conclusion of the 24-hour Circus Circus Mural Marathon.

Over the following 31 days more than 500 events staged across Reno will showcase its arts community, including a Fourth of July celebration with the Reno Philharmonic, performances by The Blind Boys of Alabama and Parsons Dance at Hawkins Amphitheatre, and a dinner at Liberty Food & Wine with illusionist Scott Silven. Sculpture Fest, an event previously held the second weekend in May, has been moved to July to coincide with Artown.

Organizers also unveiled the official poster for the 2018 Artown festival. Created by Truckee Meadows Community College student Stephanie Kendziorski, the quilt-like design emphasizes community, elegance, and precision, according to the organization.

Besides the announcements, the arts themselves were on display. Resident chef Mark Estee provided complimentary desserts and lemon water. Saxophonists, painters, and the Sierra Nevada Ballet provided sneak peeks of their planned performances, adding to the atmosphere.
