Throughout March and April BFF Café is participating in a suspended program to benefit two local nonprofits: Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and Awaken.

Suspended programs like this originated in Washington and Oregon and have since become increasingly popular. When customers at BFF Café buy a Fuelpack for themselves they will have the option to buy a second Fuelpack for a homeless person in need. Fuelpacks are pre-made, pre-packaged, ready-to-eat healthy meals. At the end of April, BFF Café will deliver the donated Fuelpacks to both of the charities.

“The suspended program at BFF Café will give countless homeless individuals the opportunity to receive a healthy meal,”said Jen Boscovich, co-owner of BFF Café. “As an ER nurse, I’ve been taking care of people off the street my entire adult life. Now with being an entrepreneur, this is an opportunity that presented itself. The second I knew we were capable of giving back to people in need, I took it.”

Both non-profit organizations, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and Awaken, strive to provide resources and guidance to those in need of a healthier and happier life. Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada has been assisting those who are less fortunate for over 75 years and Awaken, in its first year has already helped over 257 girls.

“Catholic charities of Northern Nevada eases pain and suffering and changes lives for good,” said Peter Vogel, Catholic Charities CEO. “We’re excited to partner with BFF Cafe to extend our mission.”

BFF Café prides itself on providing quality food for everyone in the community, believing that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. BFF Café is asking you to share in their mission of creating a healthier community, one fit meal at a time.

“At BFF Café we believe in providing healthy and nutritious meals to those who can afford it and to those who can’t,” said Gwen Sedler, Co-owner of BFF Café.

ABOUT AWAKEN: Awaken is a local faith-based non-profit organization whose mission is to increase awareness and education surrounding the issue of commercial sexual exploitation and to provide housing and restoration for its victims.

ABOUT CATHOLIC CHARITIES:
Our Mission is to inspire hope, strength, and self-reliance in those we are fortunate to serve.
