11-500x500-1737551-9377933The Works, a Steampunk-trend inspired restaurant and lounge has been serving students, faculty and staff at the University of Nevada, Reno since the start of the 2014 fall semester. Features include food truck caliber foods, reclaimed and industrial furnishings, Steampunk artwork and décor and “on-stage” service delivery.

Exclusively created for the University of Nevada, Reno, The Works is home to two themed and interactive service style concepts: Waffler and FORKlift Burritos & Bowls. Waffler exploits the popular food truck and restaurant sandwich trend – waffles as bread. It opts for two waffle styles, a nutritious and savory multigrain format for its savory Wafflerz sandwiches and the more traditional sweet format for fun desserts called Sweet Punks.
Wafflerz, sporting University and Wolf Pack logos, are freshly steamed and pressed on stage by members of the Steam Crew. In partnership with Portland Roasting Company, Waffler features specialty coffees, coffeehouse signature lattes and espresso beverages.
FORKlift Burritos & Bowls was developed in response to the student and faculty request for an upscale fresh Mex concept like Chipotle. Built to deliver customized and fast burritos, salad bowls and rice bowls, FORKlift Burritos & Bowls creates a custom experience for both healthy and hearty choices.
The new campus eatery was recently featured in Food Service Director, an online foodservice ideas and innovation publication. The concepts for The Works were created by Webb Culinary Design.
“Consistent food quality and freshness has been our priority since we received our first recipes,” Russ Meyer, associate director of Housing Operations and Dining Services, said. “Everything we serve is made fresh every day in a custom prep kitchen we built exclusively for The Works.”
The Works is located in the Fitzgerald Students Services Building at the University. It is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays.
