State of Nevada Division of Insurance Now on Facebook and Twitter

CARSON CITY – Consumers can now connect with the Nevada Division of Insurance (NV DOI) through Facebook and Twitter.

The NV DOI will be sharing agency news, tips about insurance and information on how to file a complaint on Twitter at twitter.com/nevadadoi and on Facebook at facebook.com/NevadaDivisionOfInsurance. Consumers can also ask the NV DOI questions about insurance through the sites.

“Our mission is to protect and educate Nevadans in their dealings with the insurance industry,” said Insurance Commissioner Scott J. Kipper. “Social media is a natural extension of our current efforts, and I hope that consumers will utilize this new channel to connect and communicate with our office. 

The NV DOI is the Nevada state agency that protects the rights of Nevada consumers and ensures the financial solvency of insurers. In 2011 it investigated nearly 2,000 consumer complaints and recovered a record $6.7 million on behalf of consumers. 

Consumers can find tips on buying insurance, or file a complaint against a company, by contacting the NV DOI at doi.nv.gov, at twitter.com/nevadadoi, at facebook.com/NevadaDivisionOfInsurance or by calling (775) 687-0700.
