The 2012 Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off features 24 of the nation’s top rib-cookers, each vying for the highly coveted first place trophy, cash prizes  and the People Choice Award. This year, The Nugget anticipates at least 500,000 hungry BBQ-lovers will consume the more than 100 tons of ribs over the extended Labor Day weekend.

John Ascuaga’s Nugget is one of the few family-owned casino resorts left in the country. Founded as a coffee shop with a few slot machines on March 17, 1955, John Ascuaga has built the Nugget into a world-class, full-service gaming resort destination.
