Better than Something: Jay Reatard/Dry Heat Release Party

We gotta triple dosey for you tomorrow night featuring Better than Something: Jay Reatard documentary, a special live performance from Thee Indoors, and the DVD release party for Dry Heat: Collected Short Films from Reno, NV to kick it all off! Better Than Something: Jay Reatard, is a look into one of the most prolific artist of the last twenty years. The film is an intimate portrait, captured just months before his untimely passing, that brings us incredibly close to Jay’s complicated punk-rock world in Memphis, Tennessee. To sweeten the deal to make it the best event to ever happened ever, Thee Indoors will be playing cover from Reatard’s vast catalogue. Here’s how the night will roll: 6:30pm is the Dry Heat party (with free refreshments and sneak peek!), then 7:30pm is Thee Indoors, followed by Better Than Something. Plan accordingly! Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.Oh, also, FREE POPCORN!


Scholastic Art Awards

March 3 – April 1, 2012 / Opening reception Fri March 2, 6-8PM

An exhibition of Northern Nevada’s 2012 high school Scholastic Art Award Winners, the gallery will feature over 100 pieces ranging in media from painting to sculpture. A correlating awards ceremony will be help at the Nevada Art Museum (160 Liberty St) on Sat. March 3 at 10AM.


NOBUNNBY, The Shames, Ditch the Pilot

NOBUNNY loves you! So please show proper respect and love him back. And everybody should know the best way to show love back is to come to the Holland Project on March 4th to see NOBUNNY!. If you don’t know Oakland’s NOBUNNY is about the most fun thing in Rock & Roll since the twist. Joining will be noisey gals + guy The Shames and Indie rockers Ditch the Pilot! At The Holland Project 8PM $5 in advance $7 at the door.


Altered Book Art Workshop

Sat. Mar. 3 from noon-3pm will wrap up the holy moly weekend with the Altered Book Art Workshop. Taught by Megan Berner, the workshop will cover how to turn an old hardcover book into a sculptured, collaged art pieces. $5 covers cost of materials and all you have to do is email [email protected] to save your spot.
