WASHOE COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Wanted for Questioning: Malo, Myles, 32 yoa WMA, 5-11, Brown Hair and Eyes

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a felony Child Neglect of a 4 month old male, which occurred in the 3000 block of Sun Cloud Court in Reno on Sunday, October 9, 2011.

Washoe County Patrol Deputies were dispatched to Renown Regional Medical Center on a report of a malnourished child. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that the child was extremely malnourished and failing to thrive and was being treated for his condition.

Deputies contacted the child’s relative who had brought the child into the hospital after the mother Shauna Malo had requested that the relative care for the child due to the fact the law enforcement was looking for her husband, Myles Malo, on an unrelated issue.

While Deputies were talking to the relative of the child, Shauna Malo arrived at the hospital and gave inconsistent information regarding the childs condition and was taken into custody for the neglect.

The Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with Child Protective Services. At this time we are asking for public assistance in locating the father of the injured child. Deputies are requesting anyone with information pertaining to this case to contact their office at 328-3320 or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office celebrates 150 years of proud service and community partnership in 2011. Sheriff Michael Haley is the 24th person elected to serve as the Sheriff of Washoe County. His office continues to be the only full service public safety agency operating within northern Nevada and is responsible for operating the consolidated detention facility, regional crime lab, Northern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center, Internet Crimes against Children Task Force, court security, service of civil process and traditional street patrols.
