scatter brain: Work by Troy Ayala

Troy Ayala is bringing his found image doodles to the Holland Project Gallery for an onslaught of awkward and distorted creatures. His mixed media pieces read like dance parties, mashing up the remains of pop culture and add some “pizazz”. The opening reception is Fri. June 3 from 6-8pm. Show runs June 1 – June 20. This is going to be AWESOME.

Printing without a Press Workshop

The workshop will introduce a number of printmaking processes that can be done at home, that can be done for relatively cheap, and that do not require any of the presses used in traditional printmaking. We’ll discuss some basic techniques like homemade rubber stamping and stencilling, and then there will be a demonstration and chance to experiment with the sunprinting process and the goof-off transfer/solvent transfer process. All materials will be provided and all mistakes will be embraced. If printmaking with a press is about nailing the perfect edition every time, printmaking without a press is about experimenting with the materials until you land on something unexpected and rad. Saturday June 11th at 1pm At HPHQ (30 Cheney St) no cover! RSVP to [email protected] to save yourself a seat – you know you’re going to want in on this awesome workshop!
