Stifel Nicolaus opens first Nevada office in downtown Reno

Stifel, Nicolaus & Company Incorporated, a full-service brokerage and investment banking firm, has opened its first-ever Reno office and has signed a 10-year lease with Basin Street Properties (www.basin-street.com) to move into the ground floor of the 50 W. Liberty St. building (Bank of America Building). Stifel, Nicolaus & Company Inc., will occupy 5,200 square feet of office space in the 249,349 square foot facility owned by Basin Street Properties, a prominent west coast real estate investor in commercial and mixed-use properties.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to serve the needs of Reno’s investors through such a highly respected team of investment professionals,” said John Lee, western region director for Stifel.  “The opening of the Reno office is a continuation of our ongoing expansion efforts in the Western U.S., which began in 2007.  We expect to quickly become the firm of choice for investors in the Reno area, and we are hopeful that other quality financial advisors will see the value of Stifel as a great home.”

“Opening an office in Reno gives us a presence in a region where we were missing opportunities,” said Andy Quinn, branch manager and financial advisor for the Stifel Nicolaus Reno office. “ Reno is a community that continues to grow and we wanted and needed to be a part of the growth and resurgence. Downtown Reno was an ideal location for us to open our office because of its many advantages including easy access for our clients, nearby amenities, prominent identity on the ground level of the building and the fact that the area is the true financial district of the community.”

Stifel, Nicolaus & Company Inc. is a subsidiary of Stifel Financial Corp., that was established in 1890 and based in St. Louis, Mo. The Company provides securities brokerage, investment banking, trading, investment advisory and related financial services to individual investors, professional money managers, businesses and municipalities.

“It is wonderful to see another company, and in this case a new company to Nevada, open its doors in downtown Reno,” said Scott Stranzl, Basin Street Properties’ vice president of leasing. “The addition of Stifel, Nicolaus & Company to downtown Reno is a confidence booster for the northern Nevada market.”

Basin Street Properties’ 50 W. Liberty Class A building consists of a 12-story and a four-story tower with 249,349 square feet of office space located in downtown Reno and in immediate proximity to City Hall, the County Courthouse and the Federal Court Building. The building features panoramic views of the surrounding Sierra Mountains, Truckee Meadows and downtown Reno, and offers close access to Interstate-80, the Amtrak station and all major bus lines. Basin Street Properties’ facility also has an on-site property manager and facilities engineer, Bibo Coffee Company and a Bank of America Branch on its ground level, an on-site security guard and on-site storage facilities.
