RENOWN HEALTH NEWS RELEASE:

renown_brochure_091006_b-9Hometown Health, the insurance division of Renown Health, has unveiled its 2010 Senior Care Plus benefit packages and will coordinate these offerings with the Medicare annual enrollment period Sunday, Nov. 15, through Thursday, Dec. 31.

During the Medicare annual enrollment period, Medicare-eligible beneficiaries can sign up for Senior Care Plus, the area’s only locally owned and operated Medicare Advantage plan.

New this year is an added acupuncture benefit along with a new hearing and hearing aid benefit. Senior Care Plus has also expanded dental coverage after receiving feedback from many of its members including those who sit on the Member Advisory Committee–a group of members who volunteer feedback each month.

Four Value Option HMO benefit plan choices are offered through Senior Care Plus for 2010. Value Options are Medicare-approved benefit plans that provide value by making cost-saving arrangements with physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers. As part of this plan, primary care physicians will coordinate patient care. However, members are not required to get authorizations to see many of the network’s providers.

Highlights for these plans include an extensive provider network, including Renown Health; combined comprehensive benefits including medical, prescription drug, vision, hearing, fitness and dental benefits in one plan; no cost-sharing for preventive services and worldwide emergency care.

Seniors interested in the freedom of a PPO plan can choose Senior Care Plus’s Freedom RX Premier Plan. This plan is a Medicare-approved health plan in which members have the freedom to choose a provider inside or outside the network. Plan members also have the freedom to see out-of-network providers without a referral.

The Freedom Plan is an alternative to Medigap (Medicare supplement) plans and has affordable monthly plan premiums, copayments and coinsurance in comparison. Plus there are no deductibles for services from network providers. As with the Value plans, the Freedom plan includes services not covered by Medicare such as preventive care, worldwide emergency coverage and an enhanced Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (also known as Part D). In addition to expanded pharmacy benefits, the Freedom Rx Premier plan provides coverage for dental and routine vision care and fitness club memberships.

Additional plan benefits include one of northern Nevada’s most extensive networks of physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers. Senior Care Plus provides preventive care options, disease management programs and the Health Hotline with a registered nurse available by phone to answer healthcare questions 24 hours a day.

“We have gone to great lengths to include our members’ suggestions and taken into consideration our members’ need for affordable comprehensive healthcare coverage,” said Matt Ladich, director for government programs for Senior Care Plus.

Senior Care Plus, a product of Hometown Health Plan, Inc. is contracted with the federal government to offer a Medicare Advantage Plan with prescription drug coverage, available to anyone with both Medicare Parts A and B. A member must be a resident of Washoe County and continue to pay his or her Medicare Part B premium.
