Date:

laura-jackson-7968473-1100541Renowned Music Director Laura Jackson has signed on to conduct the Reno Philharmonic for another four years, beginning with the upcoming Classix Series celebrating their 50th anniversary.

“I am honored and thrilled to lead the Reno Philharmonic through its golden anniversary season,” Jackson said. “This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the vision of those who, nearly 50 years ago, saw the potential of great music making in the Truckee Meadows region and made their dream a reality.  I feel a deep responsibility to carry this legacy forward. We’re planning an anniversary party second to none. It will involve the entire community, celebrate the institution’s legacy, and launch the next 50 years of exceptional musical performances and community enrichment.”

Jackson has exhibited a passion for symphony and a commitment to educational programs and community collaborations.

“We not only perform the traditional masterpieces, but take on bold new commissioning projects that provide points of connection to every music listener in our community,” she said.

Jackson was first selected as the conductor and musical director of the Reno Philharmonic in 2009, after serving as Assistant Conductor and American Conducting Fellow of the Atlanta Symphony, and has called the Reno-Tahoe region her musical home ever since.
