Washoe County Health District (WCHD) officials this week said they will operate the drive-through COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Reno-Livestock Events Center (RSLEC) for one final week before transitioning vaccinations to its main clinic location.
Vaccinations will be conducted at RSLEC through Dec. 17, then be moved inside the health district’s clinic located at 1001 E. Ninth Street, Building B. Hours for the new vaccination location will be during normal clinic hours Mondays through Fridays. Appointments can be made by calling 775-328-2427.
District Health Officer Kevin Dick said that after a full year of vaccinations at the RSLEC site community availability of the COVID-19 vaccines has expanded greatly, reducing the need for the distribution point.
“The Health District, through all of our vaccination events, has been dispensing less than 10% of the total vaccines administered in the community,” Dick said. “The goal was to support a mass-vaccination site until regional pharmacies and community providers stood up their own vaccine capabilities. We feel at this time that the community has met that challenge.”
In the time the county’s vaccination site has been open, staff and volunteers have administered more than 165,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 2,500 doses per day during peak operations, officials said.
WCHD will continue to work with community partners, including the Washoe County School District, to offer vaccination events. For more information visit www.COVID19Washoe.com.
