PlumpJack pours at Atlantis Steakhouse’s spirited event

Date:

The Atlantis Steakhouse has a reputation for curating exceptional wine-and-dinner pairings at its fine dining casino restaurant. On Tuesday, the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa welcomed guests to a PlumpJack wine and dinner pairing as part of its Spirited Dining Series—which is ramping up again post pandemic—hosted by Reno News & Review’s Johnathan L. Wright.

The event exploded with much fanfare, seating guests for a six-course dinner (including dessert) and five wine pairings from PlumpJack, CADE and Odette. The wines, which have mostly sold out, are hard to find locally, giving guests a good reason to return for sips of the collection.

Guests were either seated in the main dining area or in the back room, which emulates an underwater environment with mellow blue tones and jellyfish-style light fixtures. Each course was presented in fine dining style, starting with an amuse bouche of Dungeness crab gougere and finishing with a dessert of pumpkin mousse roulade served with a salted caramel sauce.

None of the bites—which included lobster ravioli, pan-seared Sonoma duck breast, rosemary braised lamb shank and Allen Brothers prime strip loin—came from the Steakhouse’s regular menu, a special treat for those in attendance.

The cost to attend was $195 per person and included all of the food and wine—a sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, and three cabernet sauvignons. Starting at 6 p.m., the event lasted approximately three hours.

Keep an eye on the calendar for more food-and-drink pairing events at Atlantis Steakhouse and at Bistro Napa. The Fall Crab Feed is up next: Nov. 12-13, $120 per person, including succulent crab and other seafood favorites, sides and desserts in the Grand Ballroom. On Dec. 14, G.H. Mumm Champagne will play host to a champagne and dinner pairing event, also at the Steakhouse.
