Sun Country Airlines, which announced in June a new flight from Reno to Portland, has canceled the service ahead of its November 16 launch.

The Reno-Tahoe Airport made the announcement this weekend in a short press statement.

“While the airport and community partners had marketing plans underway to support the new service in both Portland and Reno, Sun Country halted the service due to very light early bookings,” said Marily Mora, airport CEO. “We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the leadership of Sun Country as we consider partnering on future markets that will be the right fit for RNO customers.”

The airport still offers daily, non-stop service to Portland on Alaska Airlines.
