The Regional Transport Commission (RTC) is holding an open house Thursday to celebrate and view the first two phases of the SouthEast Connector, a construction project linking Sparks to south Reno.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Best Western Airport Plaza Hotel, located at 1981 Terminal Way in Reno.
At the open house, community members can discuss the details of the construction and its benefits to the area with the project team.
The SouthEast Connector is projected to be completed in 2017 and will create a new 80-acre wetland complex with more than 600 new trees, remove invasive weeks and clean up the overall environment from trash and excessive traffic.
Later this month, the RTC will also host project tours for anyone interested in seeing the process first hand.
