Hot August Nights Executive Director Tony Marini announced this week that he will be passing the torch at the conclusion of the 2015 event as he has accepted a job out of the special event sector.

“It’s been my honor to lead this organization for the past four years and firmly establish it as our region’s premier special event,” shared Marini.

“This organization overcame some challenges early on with thanks to the hundreds of volunteers, thousands of participants, our sponsors, staff, and the Board of Directors who are the backbone of our event. I have achieved a personal milestone and feel that it is the right time in my professional and personal life to continue my business career in another challenging role,” Marini stated.

Hot August Nights Board President Michael Smart affirmed, “Tony Marini was instrumental to bringing not only the event but the Hot August Nights Foundation to new levels.”

When he moves on from his current position, Marini’s legacy for the premier northern Nevada event will include successfully regaining the momentum of the Drag Races; bringing the world’s greatest collector car auction—Barrett-Jackson—to northern Nevada, providing the region with exceptional national exposure; plus giving participants the opportunity to compete for the world’s largest Show-n-Shine cash and prize funds, valued at more than $160,000.

He has established new and exciting events such as Autocross and the ride and drives. During Tony’s reign, Hot August Nights also received the honor of making the top three destinations to visit on the Autoweek Magazine wish-list events of 2014.

“The Board of Directors are now actively searching for an assistant executive director who will step into the role of executive director at the end of August. Tony will help train and work side by side with the successful candidate to ensure a smooth transition,” Smart said.

Marini, his wife Jennifer and their three girls—Talia, Gianna and Ella—are looking forward to experiencing the event from a different perspective as Tony will continue to stay very active in the Hot August Nights organization and the northern Nevada community.
