blm_logo-150x150-9538525-5938286Carson City, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will meet with the Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) on August 8, at three locations via video conference. The meeting will be held at the BLM State Office at 1340 Financial Blvd. in Reno, the Carson City BLM office at 5665 Morgan Mill Road in Carson City, and the Winnemucca BLM office at 5100 East Winnemucca Blvd. in Winnemucca. The meeting is scheduled 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The RAC advises and makes recommendations to the BLM on the management of public lands.  Discussion items will include, but are not limited to, renewable energy development and transmission, the Greater and Bi-State sage-grouse, emergency stabilization and rehabilitation, wild horse and burro program, wildland fire, drought, grazing, and recreation development plans. This meeting will include a public comment period from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The Federal Land Policy and Management Act directs the Secretary of the Interior to involve the public in planning and discussion of issues related to management of BLM-administered public lands.  The Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin RAC is one of three such councils in Nevada that accommodates this community participation directive.  Represented on the council are commercial and non-commercial users that include elected officials and state agencies, environmental, livestock, mining, Native American, and wild horse and burro.
