SUBMITTED NEWS — The Mighty Tour De Nez is known the world over as “America’s coolest race” and with a new Executive Director, Bubba Melcher, the tour’s rich tradition continues. This year marks the 21st Mighty Tour De Nez scheduled for Sunday, July 28 at Wingfield Park.
“We are so excited to bring the Mighty Tour De Nez- to downtown Reno and continue this great tradition,” Melcher said, “This race attracts cyclists of all ages and race levels to Reno and we are always looking for ways to enhance our participants and spectators experience on race day.”
This year the Mighty Tour De Nez is adding a 5K Run Race at 9 a.m. with cash prizes. A spectator favorite, the Mighty Tour De Nez is once again home to the U.S. Handscycling Series time trial and national qualifing criterium.. Elite handcylists from around the country will compete on the streets of downtown Reno starting at 10:30 a.m. Then at 11:15 the first official race of the Mighty Tour De Nez starts and continues throughout the day until 8:00 pm.
In addition to the world class racing, the Mighty Tour de Nez will also showcase local vendors, charities, food trucks, a V.I.P area to enjoy a glass of wine and cheer on the athletes as they roar through the streets of downtown Reno. The Reno Bike Project will be holding a bike swap in Wingfield Park to help round out the festivities.
