Regional Planning Agency director resigns

Regional Planning Governing Board (RPGB) Chairman, David Aiazzi today announced the resignation of the Director of the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency, Rosanna Coombes.  Ms. Coombes will work with the Board over the next few weeks to implement a leadership transition plan.

Ms. Coombes has been with the Regional Planning Agency since 2000, and has held the position of Director since 2006.  She recently accepted a position as Program Manager in the global operations division of Microsoft in Reno, Nevada.

Chairman, David Aiazzi said “We appreciate the contribution that Ms. Coombes has made to the region over the past 11 years and on behalf of the Board we wish her well.”  He added, “During the time that Ms. Coombes has been with the agency, the region has experienced unprecedented growth and as a region we are now working to meet the challenges of the global economic downturn.”

The role of the Regional Planning Agency is to coordinate land-use, infrastructure provision, and resource management between Washoe County and the cities of Reno and Sparks.  Staff of the agency also works with infrastructure providers such as the Regional Transportation Commission the Western Regional Water Commission, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, and the Washoe County School District to ensure a coordinated approach to providing necessary facilities and services for the health of the region.  The agency is jointly funded by the 3 local governments: Reno, Sparks and Washoe County.

UNR not ‘out of the woods’ with budget crisis
