SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA), the nation’s professional association for local government communicators, has presented the City of Reno the Award of Excellence for the City’s social media program.

Entries were judged on overall accomplishments, with measureable outcomes heavily weighted in addition to judging on overall creativity, quality of content, design, production, and budget.

One of the 3CMA judges remarked “Awesome use of a wide range of social media outlets. Glad to see they have a good policy and are updating all accounts regularly. Lots of interaction on Twitter with just the right amount of posts, retweets and hashtag uses.”

Judges for 3CMA Savvy Awards are local government professionals and persons from the professional, consulting, and academic communities who are highly knowledgeable in marketing and communications.

The primary goal of the City of Reno social media program was to leverage a very small staff and budget by using free social media tools in order to continue to facilitate citizen interaction with their local government

The City of Reno can be found on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Flickr, and the Around the Arch Blog. Visit the City of Reno’s website at www.reno.gov for easy access to the social media pages.
