At their regular meeting today, the Washoe County Commission commended staff and volunteers for their efforts during the air race emergency on Friday, September 16, 2011 and expressed their sorrow and support for the victims, witnesses and their families.
Commissioner John Breternitz noted, “Our entire region relies upon the multi-tiered automatic and mutual aid emergency response system during times of emergency. This emergency response system could not exist without the dedicated staff and volunteers from a multitude of agencies from throughout the region, who respond to all types of emergency events. Washoe County is deeply saddened by this incident and is committed to providing support for the victims, witnesses and their families.”
Anyone needing additional support or with questions regarding the incident at Friday’s air races are encouraged to call 211 from within Nevada, or 775.784.8090 from outside the state.
Representatives from the 211 call center can refer victims, families, observers, and others with important support resources both locally and nationally using 211 systems throughout the country, as well as take information from those looking for information on persons still missing.
Reclaiming Property. Attendees who left personal effects in the grandstand area of the air races can call 775.972.6663 for more information on reclaiming that property. Property and effects located in the box seating area near the incident are still being processed. Further information will be released when those items are available to be reclaimed.
