September 10 – Fall Garden and Container Designs

Freshen up fall perennial gardens and containers with the addition of autumn blooms and color. We’ll also take a look at trees and shrubs to add to landscapes now.
September 17 – The Importance of Fall Soil Care
Jon Bruyn, Moana Nursery Plant Doctor and Certified Arborist
Fall soil care is critical to achieving great vegetable and flower gardens in Spring. Jon will share his years of knowledge and advice on soil building, mulching and clean-up.
September 24 – Go Organic!
Steve Packer, Moana Plant Doctor, Landscape Designer and Certified Arborist
Come learn the techniques and advantages of organic gardening, and how to create safe and healthy environments inside and outside your home. We will discuss keeping your soil healthy, ways to create a haven for beneficial bugs, and growing your own nutritious food in tough economic times. Forget the pesticides and fungicides: grow organically.
October 1 – Winterizing Roses

Charlene will provide expert tips and techniques on preparing your roses for the winter; including NOT pruning before winter, minimizing damage, watering routines and winter mulching.
October 8 – Creating a Fall Bird Sanctuary

Fall is a great time to set up bird feeders. It allows the winter dwellers to get familiar with them before bad weather, and gives migratory birds much needed nutrition for their travels. You’ll learn about plants that provide shelter, food sources, how to keep a consistent source of water and how to identify the many species that will show up in your yard.
October 15 – Bulbs – Fall Planting for Spring Color
Michelle Deetken, Expert Gardener and Nutritionist
Learn how to landscape your yard like a pro with bulbs. Michelle will provide expert tips on how and when to plant your spring flowering bulbs, plus landscaping suggestions.
October 22 – Green Walls
Scott Gescheider, Moana Landscape Division Manager, and Dawn Donovan
Our landscape experts will teach you about one of the hottest trends in interior decorating, the Green Wall. Come learn about this fun, unique and sustainable way to add color to your home or office.

November 5 – Autumn Gardening Tips

Steve will go over what should be on everyone’s fall gardening to-do list, such as, bringing in houseplants, planting bulbs, cutting back perennials, pruning and adding fall color.
November 12 – Winter Landscape Care and Pest Control
Jon Bruyn, Moana Nursery Plant Doctor and Certified Arborist
Jon will explain everything you should and should not do in your landscape during the coming winter months. Get ready to keep your garden pests under control, as they can wreak havoc during the winter if not maintained. Jon will thoroughly discuss how to protect your yard and landscape from deer, voles, rabbits and more. Disease control will also be covered.
