SF Giants World Champions Trophy comes to campus

The San Francisco Giants’ 2010 World Champions Trophy Tour comes to the University of Nevada, Reno campus March 8.

WHAT: Media are invited to see the trophy and conduct interviews prior to the free, public viewing.

WHO: Tito Fuentes, Giants alumni and Spanish radio broadcaster; Reno Mayor Bob Cashell; Sparks Mayor Geno Martini; and representatives of the University and the Giants organization.

WHEN: On Tuesday, March 8, two viewing opportunities are scheduled:
–  For media and invited guests, 4 – 5 p.m.
–  For the general public, 5 – 7 p.m.

WHERE: Joe Crowley Student Union Ballroom

MEDIA CHECK-IN: Joe Crowley Student Union Great Room (fourth floor)

SATELLITE TRUCKS: Contact University Media Relations in advance to discuss arrangements. Parking for satellite trucks will be available on 15th Street, in front of Lawlor Events Center.

MEDIA PARKING: Vehicles clearly identified with a news organization logo will have complimentary access to metered parking spaces in front of the Joe Crowley Student Union. Working journalists arriving in unmarked vehicles, contact University Media Relations in advance for parking arrangements.

PUBLIC PARKING: As part of advanced coverage, please note free, public parking will be available on the sixth floor of the West Stadium Parking Complex, off North Virginia Street and just north of the 15th Street intersection, beginning at 3 p.m.

BACKGROUND: The Trophy Tour began Jan. 4 at San Francisco’s City Hall and has visited communities across California. Next stops for the Trophy Tour in this area are:
–  Tahoe City, Alpine Meadows Lodge 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., March 9
–  South Lake Tahoe, Recreation Center, 2 – 4 p.m., April 2
