BLM announces availability of applications for Sand Mountain Recreation Area vending permits

BLM NEWS RELEASE

CARSON CITY —  The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District-Stillwater Field Office, announces the availability of the 2010-2011 Special Recreation Permit (SRP) Applications for businesses wishing to conduct vending operations at the Sand Mountain Recreation Area in Churchill County.

Vendor Permits are a type of Commercial SRP and are required in order to sell any products or services on public land administered by BLM. Permit fees include a $95 minimum permit fee and 3% of the gross sales or service revenues. All funds generated from the program are returned to the recreation site and are used to sustain existing amenities including restrooms, waste disposal bins, general site maintenance, and law enforcement.

Sand Mountain Recreation Area applications will be accepted for the 2010-2011 vending season ONLY from August 1 through September 30, 2010, and December 1, 2010 through February 3, 2011.  Application received outside these dates will not be processed.

After submitting an application, the BLM-Stillwater Field Office Manager has the discretion to approve, disapprove, or modify a permit. Vendors are required to have an approved SRP in their possession prior to operating on public lands.
