A Moveon.org vigil called “We Can’t Afford to Wait” is planned for 6 p.m. tonight at the Thompson Federal Building, 400 S. Virginia St. Host “Lisa S.” says, “Let your reps know we want real health care reform with a public option–health care reform which allows all Americans to access affordable health care!! Bring signs! Bring friends!”

Sign-ups are at Moveon.org. The organization is organizing vigils nationwide before members of Congress return to Washington. According to the Moveon Web site, the purpose is “to make sure they know that an overwhelming majority of voters are counting on them to act quickly to pass health care reform. Our vigils will put a human face on the urgent need for bold health care reform with a real public health insurance option.”

Although the nationwide events are described as candlelight vigils, no candles will be permitted at the Reno vigil.
