Officers statewide are running a Click It or Ticket campaign right now to remind motorists that seat belts are the law and that failing to buckle up can result in costly tickets, or worse. During last year’s campaign, Nevada’s Joining Forces partners made 4,801 stops statewide, citing 3,986 adults and 95 teens. In addition, 328 adults were issued citations for improperly restraining children.

The Regional Street Enforcement Team recently conducted an underage alcohol compliance operation. Four 20 year old volunteers attempted to purchase alcohol at 24 different locations, eight of which served the minors alcohol. In all cases, the volunteers showed legal identification that proved they were underage.

Officers responded to a report of a stolen pickup truck. The owner of the truck believes it was stolen while he was moving into his new residence. The truck had his Border Collie inside of it at the time. The male suspect is described as 5’8” with sandy colored hair, and the female suspect is approximately 5’5” with light colored hair. The elderly man’s truck is a black extended cab 2014 Ford F-150 with Nevada license plates of 104AXW.

Around 3:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a possible kidnapping in the area of Los Altos Parkway and Canyon Run Drive. The victim was walking home after being dropped off by the school bus when she noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area — a 1990s model Chevy or GMC truck, dark gold in color. The suspect eventually parked the truck and stood in the victim’s path, but the victim managed to get past the suspect and home safely, where she called police.The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his 20s, about 5’5″ with a thin build, with spiked hair and a mustache.

Officers responded to a reported stabbing in the area of 1800 Sullivan Lane where they found Mario Nava-Carrillo suffering from stab wound to the hand. Cindy Nava-Carillo and her brother Mario were involved in an argument which led to the stabbing. Mario was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and officers have been unable to locate Cindy.

Several people were approached in the area of Broadway Blvd. and Locust Street by suspects armed with deadly weapons. The suspects demanded the victims empty their pockets; the suspects then fled with the property. The suspects are described as: #1 — Hispanic male adult, 5’5”, mid 30s, skinny, last seen wearing a red shirt; #2 — Hispanic male adult, 5’10”, mid 30s, heavy, last seen wearing a black shirt; #3 — white male adult, 6’5”, mid 30s, medium build, last seen wearing a black hat; and #4 — Hispanic female adult, 5’5”, late 20s, medium build.

A victim and suspect had been involved in an ongoing dispute when the suspect showed up at the victim’s home on Glenda Way and threatened her with a knife. The suspect has been identified, but is still outstanding.

Jose Abraham Tofolla-Flores was found guilty of burglary and destruction of property for stealing wrapped Christmas presents out of a vehicle parked on a street near Double Diamond Parkway and Double R Blvd. in south Reno. The theft happened in December 2014 to Samuel Adams while he was passing through Reno on his way to Wyoming. Adams attempted to stop Tofolla-Flores, but he fled the scene before Adams was able to make contact. Tofolla-Flores faces a maximum of ten years in prison for the burglary and 364 days in the Washoe County Jail for the damage he caused to Mr. Adams’ vehicle during the burglary.

A suspect approached an employee in a business on Mae Anne Avenue, demanding money from the register. The amount taken has not been disclosed. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, mid 40s, 5’7”, heavy, last seen wearing a dark colored jean jacket, khaki pants, and white shoes.

Shane Parsley was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, trafficking a controlled substance, and other traffic violations on Smithridge. Parsley was arrested after officers responded to a report of a vehicle striking several other vehicles before attempting to flee the scene.

Two Hispanic males are wanted for armed robbery along the riverwalk in downtown Reno. The victim was approached and the suspects demanded money. When the victim said he had none, the suspects cut him across the chest before fleeing. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Ranel Evangelista was arrested in downtown Reno on charges of battery with a deadly weapon after stabbing a man in the 300 block of Evans Avenue. The male victim suffered a puncture wound to his torso and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There was an altercation between the victim and the suspect that led to the stabbing; the fight was called into officers by an anonymous witness.

A business owner responded to an alarm at his establishment in the area of Northtowne Lane. On arrival, he discovered the front door had been smashed open and property had been stolen; total loss is unknown. The suspects are described as: #1 — white male, mid teens, last seen wearing a white sweatshirt and #2 — black male, mid teens, last seen wearing a white sweatshirt.

Officers responded to an alarm on North Sierra Street and discovered the door of a business had been smashed and pried open. Property had been stolen, although it’s unknown how much. There are no suspects.

Michael Bravo was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and carrying an open container on Virbel Lane and Neil Road. Juan Arellano was arrested on a previous warrant.

After much deliberation, a jury convicted Amadeo Sanchez, Jr. of first degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon. The victim, Daniel Carter, owed Sanchez a large amount of money and Sanchez had come looking to collect on the evening of January 15, 2013. Sanchez confronted Carter with a .22 caliber gun and shot him when he wouldn’t cooperate. Carter’s friend witnessed the shooting, getting Carter help as quickly as possible, but it was too late — he died less than 20 minutes after arriving at the hospital. Sanchez was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years; he will also be sentenced to a consecutive deadly weapon enhancement of up to 20 years on July 15, in Department 9 by the Honorable Judge Freeman who presided over the trial.

Curtis Herbert is registered as Tier III sex offender residing in the 400 block of Center Street and is currently unemployed. Herbert is in compliance with all sex offender laws and is not currently wanted by law enforcement.

A victim had located the suspects who stole his property and was confronting him when one suspect began beating the victim with a baton while the other suspect stole items from the victim’s backpack. The suspects are described as: #1 — white male adult, 5’9”-5’11”, last seen wearing a black hat, black shirt, and black shorts and #2 — white female adult last seen wearing a black top.

Jaquan Barnes was arrested for robbery with a deadly weapon. Deshawn Pollard was arrested for child endangerment and reckless driving on 5th and Virginia.

Gavin Roberts and Tony Schoner were arrested, thanks to a Secret Witness tip, on felony warrants. The men were arrested in the 200 block of Carson Avenue in north Reno after police had been actively seeking them for several weeks. Officers managed to set up a secure perimeter in the area to keep them in sight. Roberts and Schoner are both in the Washoe County Regional Detention Facility.

Officers are seeking a suspect in an armed robbery at 2191 Pyramid Way. The suspect is described as a black male adult, 5’8,” 160-180 pounds, wearing a green camouflage jacket, black beanie, blue jeans, and a blue T-shirt over his face. He held a gun to the clerk’s face and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspect fled with a undisclosed amount of money, firing a round from his handgun into the air as he fled.

Christopher Lowry was arrested on charges of sexual assault on a child under the age of 14, multiple counts of sexual assault on a child under 16 and attempted sexual assault on a child under 14.
