April Events at Washoe Lake State Park

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, a guided walk through the wetlands and a wildflower walk. Participants will learn about the natural and cultural history of the park and surrounding area.

April 4: Easter Egg Hunt
This is a great event for children of all ages! The South Valley Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual family Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny will arrive at noon and the Easter Egg hunt begins at 12:30 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

WHEN: Saturday, April 4, noon to 2:00 p.m.
WHERE: Meet at the Day Use Area lawn, turn left from the main entrance and it’s the third parking area on the right.

April 19: Wetlands Walk
This easy, family-friendly, one-mile walk takes visitors through the wetlands south of Washoe Lake. There will be wetland-themed activities and children will be able to make popsicle stick puzzles to take home. Participants should bring binoculars and a camera.

WHEN: Sunday, April 19, 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: Meet at the Wetland Area parking lot on Eastlake Blvd just south of Washoe Lake State Park.

April 25: Wildflower Walk
This moderate, one mile, round-trip hike to the overlook on the Deadman’s Creek Trail includes a short, steep climb (an elevation gain of 280 feet). The ranger will point out and discuss native plants and animals along the way.
WHEN: Saturday, April 25, 10:00 a.m.
WHERE: Meet at the Maze Parking lot, turn left from the main entrance and it’s the first parking lot on the right.

All events are open to the public and free of charge; however, there is an entrance fee into the park of $7 per vehicle. Nevada residents receive a $2 discount. Program schedules are subject to change due to weather and staffing. When going on any hike, please be sure to bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear. Washoe State Park is located at 4855 Eastlake Boulevard (Take the Eastlake Boulevard Exit #44 from I-580).
