Celebrate Art of the Tiffany Era – Three unique exhibitions open through May 20

The Tiffany family design legacy is celebrated in this unique mix of exhibitions featuring Louis Comfort Tiffany’s stained glass of the art nouveau era and a rare collection of Tiffany & Co.’s decorative firearms. Charles Lewis Tiffany established Tiffany & Co. in 1837; his son Louis Comfort Tiffany later founded Tiffany Studios, renowned for exquisite decorative objects.

FILM Art21: Art in the Twenty-First Century Season 6
Catch a sneak preview of the new season of the popular PBS contemporary art program Art21. Admission is FREE

  • Episode 1: Change — Saturday, April 7 / 2 pm
    Artists Ai Weiwei, El Anatsui, and Catherine Opie bear witness, through their work, to transformation—cultural, material, and aesthetic—and actively engage communities as collaborators and subjects.
  • Episode 2: Boundaries — Saturday, April 13 / 2 pm
    Artists David Altmejd, assume vivid astro focus, Lynda Benglis, and Tabaimo synthesize disparate aesthetic traditions, present taboo subject matter, discover innovative uses of media, and explore the shape-shifting potential of the human figure.
  • Episode 3: History — Saturday, April 21 / 2 pm
    Artists Marina Abramović, Glenn Ligon, and Mary Reid Kelley play with historical events, explore and expose commonly held assumptions about historic ‘truth’, and create narratives based on personal experiences.
  • Episode 4: Balance — Saturd, April 28 / 1 pm
    Through sculpture, paintings, and installations, artists Rackstraw Downes, Robert Mangold, and Sarah Sze grapple with equilibrium and disequilibrium as they create works that challenging conventional notions of perception and representation.

FILM Unbreakable: The Western States 100

Thursday, April 19 / 6pm
Directed by Reno filmmaker JB Benna, Unbreakable documents four of the greatest undefeated mountain runners on earth as they compete in the Western States 100-mile endurance run.

ART BITE Stained Glass: Process and Production with Cindy Oberlander

Celebrate Art of the Tiffany Era with stained glass artist Cindy Oberlander as she describes the materials, methods, and processes involved in the creation of stained glass windows and lamp shades. Free for members or with general admission.
