Galaxy Theatres, a West Coast theater chain, is opening its second Reno-area location tonight.

Located at 1250 Victorian Avenue in Sparks, the theater offers similar amenities to its sister property at The Legends.

“This whole Victorian Square is undergoing a metamorphosis,” said Galaxy CEO Frank Rimkus. “Certainly the theater has gone from a wonderful landmark to now, tonight, to become a wonderful landmark that is state-of-the-art for a first-class entertainment experience.”

The smell of new, reclining leather chairs will greet visitors in the theater, which has 13 screens, a large format DFX screen, digital and laser projection, and Dolby Atmos sound.

“We came in and completely gutted it, so the lobby area is all reconfigured,” Rimkus said. “We’ve gone to all the lounge chairs that we have at The Legends.”

Wine, beer, daiquiris, and margaritas are also served at the new theater.

Rimkus said there is parking nearby in the attached garage with refurbished lighting and a direct link into the theater.

“If people like The Legends, they’re going to love The Victorian,” Rimkus said.

The Victorian location opens at 8 p.m.

“It’s showtime,” Rimkus said.
