Correction: I previously reported the landfill was accepting items Thurs. through Sun. That is incorrect; the landfill is closed Sundays, according to Waste Management. My apologies for the error.

Waste Management is hosting free dump days in April for bulky items at the Lockwood Landfill.

The first three weekends of the month, from Thursday through Saturday, will be open for residential Waste Management customers to dispose of selected waste materials.

Those materials include: household appliances such as refrigerators, hot water heaters, stoves, and dishwashers, as well as sofas, chairs, mattresses, and box springs.

“Our goal is to keep thousands of yards of waste from being dumped illegally in our open space,” said Lockwood Landfill District Manager, Chris Anderson. “Waste Management is committed to helping the communities we serve with their environmental service needs.”

The landfill is at 2700 East Mustang Road east of Sparks off of Interstate 80.
