The 10th Project Homeless Connect fair is Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Reno Events Center, 400 N. Center Street. It will be from 7 a.m. to noon.
The event aims to bring together the region’s many service providers and connect them with area houseless individuals.
“The event, coordinated by Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, provides individuals and families experiencing homelessness free services such as medical care, job assistance, mental health services, veterans’ services, housing information, and quality of life services (such as) haircuts,” said Matt Vaughn of Catholic Charities.
More than 75 local service providers will be at the event this year. Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan will be on site offering free mammograms. Northern Nevada HOPES will be on hand with its mobile medical center, and Community Health Alliance will be offering dental services.
“Those who need additional care will have follow-up appointments after the event,” Vaughn said.
Project Homeless Connect is a nationwide event held in 200 communities around the U.S.
