The last Last Friday ends with a fall “spooky” fest with games for the kids, great music and a scaaaaary movie…

The City of Sparks is teaming up with the Sparks Museum and Cultural Center to bring you “Last Friday,” the last Friday of the month from May to September in Victorian Square. Friday, Sept. 29 is the last one with activities for the season.

Included with the regular line up are fun family contests in the amphitheater. Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living, famous for their Pumpkinpalooza event, will be on hand to hold contests for young and child-like. Get your mum and wrap her up, Egyptian style. Practice your evil laugh, the worst one could win some prizes. Costumes are always encouraged. All activities are free.

Museum and Gallery, 814 Victorian Ave: Visitors can experience the museum, tour the train and Glendale Schoolhouse for free with docents on hand for tours. These are open until 7 p.m.

Gallery: Visitors can see the latest art show upstairs in the Cultural Center and explore Sparks’ history downstairs with artifacts and displays. In the gallery visitors can enjoy Sierra Watercolor Society’s “Show your colors” exhibit. Sierra Watercolor Society (SWS) exhibits in public spaces throughout the year and holds educational lectures and classes. SWS’s Art Angels program sends volunteers to teach art in regional elementary schools and has an art scholarship program.

Historic Schoolhouse: The school “marm” is holding class from the past in the nationally registered historic Glendale Schoolhouse, newly restored for its 150th birthday.

Train: The conductor leads a tour through the steam locomotive, a cupola caboose and a Pullman executive car.

Music: Local acoustic bands are set for the Great Basin Brewery Stage at 7:30 p.m., September’s featured performer is Scarlett Moon, a Pink Floyd and Grateful Dead tribute band.

Movie: To cap off the evening, a FREE family friendly movie will be shown in the outdoor amphitheater at 10th and Victorian Ave. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. The featured movie is the original Frankenstein with Boris Karloff. Movie starts at dusk, approximately 6:30 p.m.
