Visitors to the Truckee Meadows and locals alike invited to an adventure off the eaten path
A new culinary walking tour, Reno Food Tours, is celebrating the best local restaurants and specialty stores that the Biggest Little City has to offer. Reno Food Tours will be offering guided tours of downtown and midtown districts, led by a local expert on an ongoing basis.
The first tours will kick off in August. Guests will be taken to exclusive tastings at six local restaurants and shops. Hand picked tour guides will highlight points of interest, historical markers and upcoming events in the Truckee meadows.
Reno Food Tours aims to attract both visitors to Reno and locals to celebrate the food scene and enjoy city attractions. “It’s not exclusively for foodies” Melissa Smith, Owner, Reno Food Tours, explains, “it’s for people who love great food and want to learn more about our city’s local restaurants, shops, history, and culture while having fun. Our goal is to showcase some of the amazing local restaurants, artisans, and producers we have in Reno.”
All of the Reno Food Tour partners are locally owned businesses who share a passion for creative, fresh, locally sourced food. Tour partners include: SoDo, Liberty Food & Wine Exchange, Great Full Gardens, Wedge Cheese Shop, Wild Garlic Pizza, Old Granite Street Eatery, Noble Pie, Brasserie Saint James, Süp, Rawbry, Simple Ice Cream Sandwiches, and Sugar Love.
“It has been a pleasure to work with this energetic, enthusiastic group of entrepreneurs who care deeply about the quality of their ingredients and every aspect of their food. Learning about them, their families and their businesses first hand has been an amazing part of developing our tour!” Melissa Smith, Owner, Reno Food Tours.
Midtown Tours will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Fridays, the Downtown Tours will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Both tours will run between 2 ½ – 3 hours. Tickets are $65 for adults and $45 for children. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diet restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice. Tickets for the tours can be purchased at www.renofoodwalks.com
