Artist Workshops with Sierra Arts

Sierra Arts and Art Spot Reno are teaming up to present a series of artist workshops beginning Saturday, April 25. They’ve pulled together some of the brightest professional minds in Reno to share some of their trade secrets with the public, helping you grow as an artist or as a business owner.

On April 25, learn about “Social Media Marketing and Crowdsourcing.” Learn how to get strategic results from social media and marketing and how to get the most out of crowdfunding platforms, such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Crowdfunder. Speakers include Larry DeVincenzi, strategy director from the Biggest Little Group, Kaitlin Godbey, iphoneographer and social media junkie, and Debe Fennell, Crowdfunding Director at LaunchMoxie.com.

On May 23, learn how to present your work with “The Nuts and Bolts of Presenting Your Work,” You’ll get tips for how to answer a call-to-artists, write an artist statement and resume. Speakers include Paul Baker Prindle, Director, University Galleries at the University of Nevada, Reno; Candace Nicol, Galleries Curator and Instructor at TMCC; and Rachael Holton, fine artist and Regional Gallery Director with the Thomas Barbey Gallery.

Finally, on June 27 learn “How to Get Your Business Up and Running.” Learn about business licenses and other city regulations. Hear from business owners about running a business and doing business with businesses. Speakers include Lauren Hufft, owner of Prism Magic, Mark Hammon, Nevada Fine Art, and a representative from The City of Reno.

All workshops are $20 and include light refreshments and lunch courtesy of Wild River Grille. Artists are encouraged to RSVP as space is limited. To reserve your spot, contact Eric Brooks at [email protected].
