Issac Carthen-Porter, Julian Hamilton, and Maria Moore were arrested on January 23 during a fight call in the 2000 block of Silverada Blvd. One victim was transported to St. Mary’s with a gunshot wound to the arm; the victim stated he knew the suspects and they were looking for him. The handguns involved are outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.

Around 5:30 p.m., Sparks Fire responded to a call at 40 C Street in Sparks. Upon arrival, they discovered an explosion had caused the structure fire. The occupants were home at the time, but were able to safely escape. The male subject suffered burns and was transported to Renown; he told officers he had a legal grow farm in his home which caused the explosion. The investigation is ongoing.

January 26, 2015

There was a residential burglary on Callaway Trail. The home had been burglarized and a vehicle was stolen. There are no suspects at this time.

Jonathan Pendergrass was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and trafficking on South Lake Street.

Sean Young was arrested for MIC/PCS, marijuana, and O&R on Moran Street.

Richard Burton was arrested on charges of battery on an officer and O&R on 3rd and Vine Streets during a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plates. Burton was combative and uncooperative, striking an officer in the face.

Jesse Daly was arrested for BDW, stabbing, and possession of drug paraphernalia on West 4th Street. Daly was involved in a discussion with the victim when he produced a knife, stabbing the victim in the back. The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.

January 27, 2015

Sean McAndrew was arrested for possession of marijuana for the purpose of sales and possession of marijuana after an online report led them to a grow house in downtown Reno.

A collision occurred in the area of Vista and Brierly. The driver is believed to have run off the road and hit a concrete pole before crashing into a tree and coming to a stop. Gupreet Jaswal suffered a head injury and was transported to Renown. Speed and rainy conditions are believed to be factors in the accident. Jaswal does not recall the accident.

Around 6:30 p.m., Sparks police officers responded to reports of a fight in the 1000 block of El Rancho Drive. The call turned out to be a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. The victim was unconscious when help arrived and transported to Renown with potentially life-threatening injuries. Arthur Coleman was driving at the time of the accident. Alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor on his part, but the investigation of the victim is ongoing.

Neighbors observed a residential burglary of an unoccupied home on City View Terrace and called police. The suspects fled prior to the police arriving. They are described as three white or Hispanic males, driving a four door white sedan, either a Buick or a Dodge Charger.

Five arrests were made in Sun Valley today in relation to a January 2 home invasion on Hirsh Road in Verdi. Read more here.

Demariea Doucet was arrested for possession of controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and trafficking of a controlled substance during an undercover sting operation in the downtown Reno area.

Ashlee Chamberlin was arrested for fraudulently cashing the checks of an elderly woman from Incline Village. She cashed 15 checks worth just over $6,500. Read more here.

Sparks police responded to a report of a child being lured in the 1800 block of Prater Way. The victim is a teenager who was offered a ride by a strange male suspect. After being told no by the teen, the suspect drove away. The male is described as a Hispanic male in his mid 30s with a thin mustache, and wearing a black baseball cap with a yellow logo. The vehicle was described as a newer Jeep, possibly the Liberty model, silver in color. She further said the vehicle had a black luggage rack on the roof. The vehicle was last seen driving eastbound on D St. The victim was unharmed, but the suspect is still at large.
