The elderly woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle when she jaywalked across Peckam Lane shortly after 7 pm on October 2, 2014 has been identified as 63 year old Reno Resident Andrea Griffin (DOB 04/21/51). In 2005 Griffin was jaywalking in the same area of Peckam Lane and had been struck and injured by a vehicle.

The 28 year old Reno man who was struck and killed on October 11, 2014 in the area of N McCarran Blvd and Socrates has been identified as Thomas Christopher (Chris) Barb (DOB 06/01/86).

The Reno Police Department again wants to remind pedestrians and drivers to be extra careful at night when crossing roads and approaching pedestrian crosswalks. Pedestrians need to remember to look left, and right and left again before crossing roadways, and to wear light colored or reflective clothing when walking at night. Drivers of motor vehicles need to use caution when approaching pedestrian crosswalks and be prepared for potential distracted pedestrians.
