On Saturday, Oct. 11, Nevada’s first commercial estate distillery, Frey Ranch, will open its doors to the public with a grand opening.
The celebration will include tastings of Nevada’s first legally distilled spirit, Churchill Vineyards Brandy, Churchill Vineyards wines and the brand new Frey Ranch Vodka.
Food will be provided by Mount Mogrit Gourmet food truck featuring American charbroiled food with a Cajun flair and samples will be available from Tahoe Cheese and Erick Schat’s Bakkery from Bishop, Calif.
Attendees may also tour the distillery with owner and distiller, Colby Frey. The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the all new Frey Ranch Estate Distillery in Fallon, Nev.
“Much like our spirits, we crafted every detail of our distillery – from the design of the building to the design of our one-of-a-kind Vendome still – to create a place where we could make world-class spirits, further establishing Nevada as a premier destination for craft wines and spirits,” Frey said. “This grand opening is just the beginning of a long, ongoing journey that we are excited to share with our friends, family and the world.”
Last month, husband and wife Colby and Ashley Frey, kicked off the distilling process with a special grain ceremony that included elected officials, economic development representatives, friends and family helping to prepare grains for the first batch of vodka.
Frey Ranch Vodka, produced from carefully selected grains grown at the Frey Ranch is the first in the line of the spirits that will be available at the distillery. Using over 15 years of knowledge in growing high-quality grains, Frey Ranch is one of the world’s only estate distilleries and will grow, distill, produce and bottle vodka, gin and bourbon whiskey.
The brand new, 4,000 square-foot facility features a stillroom, tank room, barreling room and tasting room. The centerpiece is a one-of-a-kind, custom-made Vendome still capable of producing 10,000 cases of spirits a month. There are also four 5,000 gallon fermenters, one 5,000 gallon mash cooker, one 5,000 gallon beer well, one 500 gallon pot still and a 24-foot continuous still.
Distributed through Southern Wine and Spirits, Frey Ranch Vodka will be available in stores in October with Frey Ranch Gin available by late 2014.
Churchill Vineyards wine can be found at major retail outlets including Whole Foods, Scolari’s Food and Drug Co., the Great Basin Food Co-op and Total Wine & More.
