The Washoe County Clerk has been given the go ahead to issue same sex marriage licenses and will be doing so immediately.

Earlier this afternoon, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals gave the green light to Federal District Judge James C. Mahan to issue an injunction to end Nevada’s ban on gay marriage. Judge Mahan signed the injunction and county clerks in Nevada are now free to issue licenses.

Washoe County Clerk Nancy Parent said her office is staffed and ready to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples.

“Gender neutral forms are ready to go,” said Parent. “Same sex couples wishing to obtain a marriage license should bring government-issued photo identification and $60 cash.”

The Clerk’s Office is open from 8 a.m. to midnight every day of the year and is located at the Washoe County Administrative Complex at 1001 East Ninth Street in Reno.
