CARSON CITY -– Governor Brian Sandoval today announced he has appointed Paul Thomsen as Director of the Nevada Office of Energy, effective October 14.
“Paul has extensive experience managing federal, state, and local legislative, regulatory, and strategic public relations programs in the energy industry,” Governor Brian Sandoval said. “I am pleased he has agreed to serve Nevada in this way and I look forward to continuing Nevada’s work on renewable energy with Paul.”
Thomsen, who has served as Director at Ormat Technologies since 2005, was previously a legislative assistant at Lionel Sawyer & Collins. Thomsen has served as a regional representative for United States Senator Harry Reid and was a legislative correspondent for United States Senator Richard H. Bryan.
As Director at Ormat, Thomsen directs Ormat’s federal, state, and local legislative, regulatory, and strategic public relations programs and geothermal project development in the U.S. While serving as Ormat’s principal liaison with legislators, organizations, advocacy groups and media, Thomsen also creates, coordinates and implements policy objectives among national associations to expand market opportunities.
Thomsen received both a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno.
