WASHOE LAKE STATE PARK NEWS RELEASE – Washoe Lake State Park is hosting an introduction to Dutch oven cooking class. Local Dutch oven cooking experts from the Northern Sierra Dutch Oven Group will lead participants in preparing main entrees and desserts such as cobbler and Mississippi Mud Cake. This is a hands-on audience participation program, so bring your apron and be prepared to do some cooking. Come enjoy this art of cooking, which has been part of the American experience for over 300 years.
The “Introduction to Dutch Oven” cooking class is Saturday, August 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Participants will meet at the Washoe Lake State Park Main Group Reservation Area. Washoe Lake State Park is 18 miles south of Reno and five miles north of Carson City. Travel on U.S. 395 and take Eastlake Boulevard (Exit 44). The event is open to the public. Reservation preference will be given to those who have not attended this class before. There is no charge for the program but there is a $7 per-vehicle entry fee. Nevada residents receive a $2 discount. Contact park staff at 775-687-4319 for further information and pre-registration. Pre-registration is required and class is limited to 30 participants.
