A Reno man is hospitalized tonight with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle as he crossed the street at 2nd and Arlington in downtown Reno.  Reno Police first received the call at about 8:50 pm and found the man unresponsive in the street.  He was transported to the hospital by REMSA where he remains critical.

What police know at this time is that a vehicle being driven by a Washington DC man had stopped eastbound on Arlington at 2nd, waiting to turn left.  The driver of that vehicle did not see the man crossing Arlington westbound in a “gopher” type wheelchair and struck him as the driver proceeded through the intersection.  The driver was cooperative and drugs or alcohol are NOT believed to be a factor.

The condition of the victim is being watched closely, and at the time of this release, no charges have been filed.  The incident is being investigated by the Reno PD Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).  Updates will occur as police learn more. Names of those involved are being withheld at this time.
