ABOWD & ROSE NEWS RELEASE

Eric AbowdEric Abowd, partner and lead financial advisor at Abowd & Rose Financial Group, was recently awarded the Certified Estate and Trust Specialist® (CES) designation by The Institute of Business & Finance (IBF). The graduate level designation demonstrates the advisor’s advanced training and competency in estate planning.

CES designees are recognized as experts in helping their clients to prepare for dealing with the passing of a family member and the resulting transfer of property and wealth to the survivors.  To achieve the designation, advisors must complete a 60-hour self-study program, pass three exams and complete a case study based on a hypothetical client.  They must also sign a code of ethics and complete 15 hours of continuing education each year to maintain the designation.

“Estate planning is an essential aspect of comprehensive financial planning; however, it is one that is often ignored,” said Abowd. In a 2012 survey conducted by U.S. Trust, nine out of ten people surveyed said that it was important to them to not become a financial burden on their children or other relatives, yet only four in ten surveyed have a comprehensive estate plan (source: http://www.ustrust.com/ust/Pages/Insights-on-Wealth-and-Worth.aspx).

“We believe that continuing our education immediately benefits our clients,” said Abowd. “Part of our lifetime commitment to our clients is helping them prepare for the efficient transfer of their assets upon their death.  We also make ourselves available to their beneficiaries should they need financial planning advice after receiving an inheritance, so that the family’s financial strategy has continuity of vision and values and also minimize tax effects.”
