Elko District BLM hosts forum

blm_logo-150x150-8638791-1198543BLM NEWS, ELKO — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Elko District Office is hosting an open communications forum Thursday, March 14 to provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about projects being undertaken by the Elko District as well as a forum to provide input to the BLM.

The main topic for this forum will be Oil & Gas Development on public lands. Jeff Schwarz, Nevada Business Unit Manager for Noble Energy, Inc. will present on Noble’s exploration and drilling activities and Gary Johnson, Deputy State Director, Minerals, Nevada BLM will present regulatory information on onshore exploration and drilling.

After topic presentations, there will be a brief question and answer period followed by an opportunity for public speaking. Comments can be made regarding any public lands activity and will be recorded for future BLM use. Written comments will be accepted as well.

This is the first of planned quarterly forums to maintain an open dialogue between BLM and the many users of America’s public lands.

The forum is open to the public and will be at the Red Lion Hotel & Casino in the Humboldt Room located at 2065 Idaho St., Elko. The forum begins at 6 p.m. and is expected to last approximately two hours. Public speakers will need to register either at the event or prior to by email at [email protected]. Requests will need to include requestor’s name, address and phone number along with the topic of their comment.
