40 DAYS FOR LIFE NEWS RELEASE
On Sunday, Oct. 27, the 40 Days For Life Reno Tahoe Fall 2012 campaign will hold an interfaith rally at the Church of Jesus Christ Spirit Filled at 3175 Goldy Way, Sparks, beginning at 3 p.m.
The rally will include a short march from the church across Baring Boulevard to Shelley Park at the corner of Baring and McCarran boulevards, which will start at approximately 4 p.m. Hundreds are expected to participate, carrying signs and banners from their churches.
This family-friendly event will feature speakers both at the church and the park, representatives from northern Nevada’s many pro-life organizations, a pro-life jack-o-lantern carving contest and collections of diapers and other infant products. Speakers at the park will be members of “Silent No More,” a group of post-abortive women who tell their stories about the real human price of choosing abortion.
Whereas many prior 40 Days For Life activities had involved Catholics almost exclusively, this will truly be an interdenominational show of support for the sanctity of human life. In addition to the host Spirit Filled Church, participants are expected from Living Waters Christian Fellowship, Word of Life, Valley View Christian Fellowship, House of Worship, Dominion Life Reno, the Lighthouse of God, Victory Outreach Reno, Multnomah Bible College, Faith Alive Christian Center, University Family Fellowship and several Northern Nevada Catholic parishes.
About 40 Days for Life
40 Days for Life is an innovative pro-life project that includes 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities and grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history where God brought about world-changing transformation in 40-day periods, as well as the Christian season of Lent. Since its inception in College Station, Texas in 2004, nearly six thousand babies have been spared abortion, 69 abortion workers have left their jobs and 24 abortion sites have closed.
40 Days For Life now involves Carson City, Reno and 315 other locations in 6 countries and has taken place locally since 2007. To learn more about 40 Days for Life, visit www.40daysforlife.com. For information about the Reno-Tahoe campaign, visit www.40daysforlife.com/renotahoe or call 775-410-PRAY.
