Dolan Automotive Group helps kick off the school year once again with its Second Annual $50,000 Class Project. The annual contest encourages area public school teachers to submit a concept for a classroom project on behalf of students during the month of September. Teacher proposals are then voted on by fans of the Dolan Automotive Group Facebook page in October and the top 20 vote-earners receive $2,500 to help bring the idea to life. Teachers can go to Facebook.com/DolanAutomotiveGroup and click on the “Class Project” tab to enter a proposal. Submissions are due by Sunday, Sept. 30.
“We had tremendous success with last year’s Class Project and wanted to bring it back for a second time so that we could continue helping students and teachers throughout northern Nevada,” Ryan Dolan, CEO of Dolan Automotive Group, said. “Education is incredibly important to us as a family and as an organization and we feel that it is our obligation as business leaders in the community to help students and teachers in every way possible. We hope the community will continue to support our efforts, and vote for and share the proposals as they have with our other charitable endeavors.”
Teachers are encouraged to enter the contest early and share ideas with parents, faculty members and alumni of the school. Project topics are at the discretion of the teacher. Whether it is an art or science project, music, technology or something different altogether, unique and creative proposals are encouraged. Teachers must be K-12 public school or public charter school employees in Washoe, Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Humboldt, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing or Storey counties to enter. All approved entries are featured on the Dolan Automotive Group Facebook page. The entry period is Tuesday, Sept. 11 – Sunday, Sept. 30 and voting takes place from Oct. 1 – 21.Winners are announced Monday, Oct. 22.
In 2011, the inaugural $50,000 Class Project awarded 20 classrooms with $2,500 each, resulting in 101 teacher proposals and more than 27,000 votes. Last month, Dolan Automotive Group held its second annual FanFest Free Car Giveaway, awarding one lucky fan a brand new Toyota Tacoma.
“Last month’s car giveaway was a way for us to say thank you to our customers,” added Dolan. “We’ve had great success with our Facebook page over the past year and it has given us an opportunity to get the community involved with our charitable efforts and contributions. We’re looking forward to another exciting Class Project in 2012.”
